Description
The Severn Valley Railway operates steam-hauled passenger trains between Bridgnorth, Bewdley and Kidderminster. Trains run every weekend and daily May to September plus local school holidays. The best way to see the beauty of the River Severn is from a steam-hauled train on the Severn Valley Railway. The Severn Valley Railway has had its home in the town of Bridgnorth, Shropshire since 1965. Refreshments are available at stations and on most trains. Luncheon trains run every Sunday. The 16 mile long Severn Valley Steam Railway in Bridgnorth, Shropshire hosts a series of special events throughout the year.Younger visitors have the opportunity to meet Thomas the Tank Engine and the Fat Controller, while older visitors will enjoy the 1940's themed weekends where the railway stations take on a distinctly wartime feel, as windows are taped, doors sandbagged and visitors have the opportunity to dress in civilian or military period outfits. The Severn Valley Railway also holds an annual Heavy Horse Weekend - A Victorian Experience and the Classic Car and Bike Day, which displays nearly 200 lovingly restored road vehicles at the stations along the railway. Tickets can be booked in advance or you can pay on the day.
