The newly refurbished Camping & Caravanning Club site opened on 1st August 2007 to members and Non-members. There is also a purposed built Disabled/Parent & Child room and Motorhome Service Point.
Of the 65 spacious pitches, 56 have electricity of which 26 are hardstanding. In addition there are a number of small tent pitches.
Access to the site is roomy and very easy to find -From the A5 between Shrewsbury & Oswestry take B4396 from the Wolfshead roundabout at the western end of the Nesscliffe by-pass, signposted "Knockin". The site is second entrance on the left, about 300 yards from the roundabout.
Located midway between Shrewsbury & Oswestry and screened from the A5 by mature woodland, this quiet, tranquil site offers a peaceful location yet gives easy access to the many attractions in and around both towns. The bus service is every 30 minutes and just 300 yards away from the entrance.
The Bridal path from the site entrance leads into a network of footpaths to the local villages whilst Nesscliffe County Park with its extensive walks and stunning views over Shropshire to Wales is just 1.5 miles away.
The campsite has been completely renovated in sympathetic harmony with the natural landscape and respect for the diverse flora, birds and wildlife that abound in and around the grounds and low level lighting has been installed to avoid light pollution.
Care has been taken to recycle turf from the hardstandings to create newly terraced areas thus maintaining the wild flower seeds and plants. New roads have been created using local Creggan stone, unusual in that when wet it changes colour to blue-green.
Woodland adjacent to the site is home for varied bird and animal life from a pair of nesting buzzards, woodpeckers and owls to squirrels and rabbits. A red kite is regularly seen flying over the site. Many different species of butterflies and moths are attracted to the colourful flowers around the site.
An ideal location for exploring the many attractions in the Shropshire and North Wales areas.
