Description

The Battle of Shrewsbury took place on this site in 1403.

The Battle of Shrewsbury 1403 was one of the bloodiest battles of English History fought between King Henry IV and Henry Tudor (commonly called Harry Hotspur). Today, you can visit this medieval site, walking the Hotspur and Royal Trails, taking in the fish pools and Battlefield Church (Saint Mary Magdalene). Interpretation panels provide information about the battle.

The church was built in the 1400's to commemorate the battle. It is open at weekends from May to September.

There is a leaflet available from Tourist Information Centres to tell you about the site and the battle and showing the route of the 2 trails. It is also available to download on this page.

2003 was the 600th anniversary of the Battle. There is a web site celebrating the anniversary which has links to other web sites with information about the battle.

Recreational Activities: Two circular routes at the site providing opportunities for able bodied and less mobile users with easy, level routes, wheelchair accessible.
