Craven Arms
Trails around Craven Arms
"What are those blue remembered hills,
What farms, what spires are those?"
A Shropshire Lad, A.E. Housman
The Shropshire Hills are all around you when your base is Craven Arms. Walks from the town, and Secret Hills - Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre reveal the culture and heritage, the myths and legends of this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can even take a 'balloon ride' for views over the hills without leaving the ground!
Two railways pass through this market town. The main line will take you on to Shrewsbury and Ludlow. The Heart of Wales line is a single track route through the Borderlands to the Brecon Beacons and on to Swansea.
Setting out from Craven Arms, the rivers, hills and quiet countryside will enchant you.
If your base is Craven Arms you can either spend a couple of hours walking the trail of the River Onny, spend an afternoon at Stokesay Castle on the way to Ludlow Racecourse or have a whole day out by rail in town and country, visitng Church Stretton and the Long Mynd.
