Heritage Attractions in Shropshire
The ever popular BBC Victorian Farm series set at our own Acton Scott Working Farm has proved to be a major hit with visitors. The spin-off show, a Victorian Farm at Christmas, drew large numbers of viewer too - although we are not sure that today's kids would be very thankful for a whittled stick toy as a Christmas present.
We now also have the Victorian PHARMacy - set in the World Heritage Site of Ironbridge at Blist's Hill Victorian village - and giving us all insight into a by-gone age of medicinal care. The current budget cuts may even result in some of us having to turn back to traditional, more cost effective remedies in the near future!
There's more to Shropshire's heritage than celebrity properties - we have the Severn Valley Railway a beautiful steam driven way of seeing Shropshire at its best. There are miles of unspoilt canals part of which are in the newest World Heritage Site over in Oswestry.
We have mines and kilns, stunning architecture and even planes. We also have numerous events to celebrate all things heritage.
