Apley Farm Shop’s wedding cheese cake is launched
Apley Farm Shop is hoping the betrothed will be falling head over heels for their new must-have wedding item!
Their successful delicatessen counter has just launched a spectacular eight-tier wedding cake made from a selection of cheeses to add an amazing eye catching piece for any special occasion.
The cake stands close to three foot and is designed to suit a wide pallet of tastes, as well as to satisfy and impress guests. It features the beautiful Godminster cheddar, Shropshire Blue, Pearl Wen Brie and held by a stunning 3kg Yarg, topped with the Godminster waxed Heart.
Lord Hamilton explained “Wedding cheese cakes are very in vogue at the moment, perhaps part of the move away from sugar. The idea originated in 2000, but on the continent cheeses have been used in this way as wedding cakes for centuries.“
Lady Hamilton continued “These cakes can be cut in the usual way by the bride and groom, then dismantled easily & distributed to the guests. The great thing about a cheese cake is that it not only keeps well but actually improves with age.”
Lora Rogers, Farm Shop supervisor added “We have a very loyal customer base of cheese lovers who love these cakes. They can be used for any special occasion, not just weddings such as fundraising events, wedding anniversaries & birthday parties. The cakes are also available for Click & Collect via our online Delishop, a service which busy working people & those living far from the shop really appreciate.”
Serving around 150-200 people, the cake is available in two sizes and includes the cheese board. The eight-tiered cake costs £225 and a smaller, seven-tiered one costs £150. Big Little Things, Shropshire's wedding florist found located in the Apley courtyard, can have also teamed up to create bespoke flower arrangements to decorate the cake to suit the chosen wedding theme.
