BBC Midlands visiting Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre for Out and About feature
The BBC in the Midlands through Midlands Today, Inside Out and Local Radio has been delivering surprising stories from familiar places for many years but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty more to be told!
During the Easter holiday fortnight the BBC Midlands Out & About Bus, along with well-known TV and Radio Presenters from the Region will be seeking out those stories from members of the public.
Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms is the chosen Shropshire venue on Thursday 31st March from 9am viewers and listeners are invited to record their “surprising stories” on camera and highlight any local issues they feel are not being given air time. There’s also an opportunity to “Turn Tables”, by interviewing Nick Owen 11am-1pm, have a go at presenting the weather, or reading the news.
Catherine Collier, General Manager at Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre said ‘As a registered charity managing Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre we are thrilled to have been chosen as the only Shropshire venue for the BBC Midlands outreach initiative on Thursday 31st March. Our vision is to connect people to the landscape, history and food of the Shropshire Hills, the Discovery Centre houses a replica mammoth skeleton found in Shropshire 30 years ago in our exhibition but also has a popular café and gift shop, not forgetting our 30 acres of meadows to explore. The Discovery Centre is a popular visitor attraction but it’s also very much at the heart of the local community. As Grow Cook Learn, we deliver community projects working with other charities and not for profit organisations who share our vision, we’ve invited them to join in the discussion on Thursday including the Wheels for All team helping us provide cycling opportunities for all abilities on our inclusive cycle path, come along and have a go’.
