Win a night’s stay at Darwin’s Townhouse with return travel on the Transport For Wales Network

Named in honour of Shrewsbury’s famous son, Darwin’s Townhouse is a privately owned, family run late 18th Century Grade II* Georgian Townhouse which was purchased in 2016, and has undergone a complete refurbishment. Creating a 19 bedroom boutique bed and breakfast in the heart of Shrewsbury town centre.

Darwin’s Townhouse has evolved into a contemporary but cosy and welcoming B&B.  The decoration is fun and characterful, with animal and plant wallpapers, maps, natural history objects and antiques. An octagonal drawing room has a splendid decorative ceiling depicting signs of the Zodiac. The snug has a well-stocked honesty bar. Muted bedroom decor offsets Darwinian-appropriate patterning on curtains and cushions. The Town House also retains its original stone Staircase and original fireplaces in three rooms. There is a beautiful well maintained secret garden, and a light-filled conservatory, where guests can enjoy an award winning locally sourced breakfast, with plenty of options bringing artisan jams, to free-range eggs from Hollowdene’s happy hens. Guests can also claim a 10% discount at their sister restaurant The Loopy Shrew, also located in the town.

Whether you’re seeking a peaceful getaway or a base to explore the beauty of the surrounding area, Darwin’s Townhouse offers a unique and unforgettable experience.

Montgomery, a cousin of William the Conqueror, earned this castle and more as a thank-you for his aid during the Norman conquest.

From royal stronghold to a 16th-century transformation, Shrewsbury Castle has quite the story. Now, it stands majestically, housing the Shropshire Regimental Museum. 👑🏰 Ready to step into the pages of history?
