Buildwas village sits within the leafy countryside surrounding Shropshire's county town, Shrewsbury. It sits on the north bank of the River Severn.

The local primary school has been running for over 150 years and has three classes and a nursery. A nine hole golf course runs between the River Severn and Ironbridge Power Station.
