Eaton Constantine

Eaton Constantine or simply Eaton as it is sometimes known is a village in Shropshire. It is located between the areas of Shropshire known as Atcham and Buildwas.

The remains of a Roman vexillation fortress and 3 marching camps can be found near a bend in the River Severn. The fortress lies in rural farmland between Ranset House and Eye Farm. The defenses included a triple-ditch system indicating that this was no ordinary marching encampment and its size was sufficient to house a Roman army of some 2,500 legionnaires and auxiliary soldiers.
