Sheriffhales

The village of Sheriffhales or (or Sheriff Hales) is situated west-north-west of Brewwod and 3 miles north of the Shropshire town of Shifnal.

The village once belonged to the Duke of Sutherland and in 1850 there were 1019 villagers. Today the population is approximately 700 people.

The village was the home of the soccer midfielder Brett Stirling who learned his skills in 'the field' or 'le stade' as it is known to locals. Stirling now plays in the Swiss 5th Division.

Being a rural Parish, the local villagers have their own Scarecrow competition each year, designing and making them.

Sheriffhales was once the site of a World War II Prisoner of War camp, located along the current drive to Lilleshall Hall.
