Insect and Beetle Trail
Inspired by M.G. Leonards award winning book ‘Beetle Boy’, we will be running an educational Insect and Beetle Trail around the 12 acre woodland garden over the summer holidays (from Monday 24th July 17). Families will be invited to explore the garden guided by the Beetle Trail which will journey through the woodland quarry and garden teaching visitors how to identify Beetle species as well as informing about their habitats and life cycles. There will be Beetle identification sheets and also a display of sample Beetles donated by PHD entomologist, Fran Sconce, from Harper Adams University. Families will be asked to collect items along the trail and then make their own beetle to take home. M.G. Leonards books will also be available for sale in the gift room. The trail is free of charge and aims to educate children and families about Beetles, other insects, and wildlife that lives within the 12 acre hillside garden.
