Held at the Thomas Adams School in Wem, the Eckford Sweet Pea Show is held in honour of the 18th Century nurseryman Henry Eckford.  This year celebrating its 25th birthday.

2013 Annual Show

*Seventy Sweet Pea classes for exhibitors and on display including the Modern Spencer sanmd the Old Fashioned wonderfully perfumed Sweet Peas. The dosplays can be in vases, bowls ands baskets.

*Floral Art Displays for exhibitors and on display ranging from small to large and covering colourful and topical events.

*Specific classes/displays for children

*Sweet Pea sowing and growing advice available

*Sweet Pea seeds for sale

*Sweet Pea goods for sale - tea towels/china/cards

*Many stalls selling garden plants, horticultiral accessoroes, bric a brac, produce, jewellery, crafts etc

*Willowing weaving display/have a go

HISTORY

The SWEET PEA SHOW is held in WEM each year in July, to celebrate the close association the town has with sweet peas, which all started over 100 years ago.

The link dates back in fact to 1888 when the world famous hybridist HENRY ECKFORD moved to Wem to continue his work with Sweet Peas and to start what was to become a seeds business famous throughout the world.

A special feature of the show, is the section for Old Fashioned Sweet Peas, most of them raised in Victorian Times by Henry Eckford V.M.H. with seeds available by post or from the society.

Within the show will be an numerous stands offering, Advice, Membership, Raffle, Horticultural accessories, Willow weaving demonstrations, Gifts, Cards, Souvenirs, Perennial plants etc, and of course, seeds for Old fashioned Eckford and Spencer Sweet Peas.

Held at The Thomas Adams School, Stanier Hall, 100 High St, WEM SY4 5DE.

The Stanier Hall and large marquee are situated on High Street, Wem which is in easy reach of the motorway system and Wem Railway Station.

PARKING

Strictly “Disabled only” parking at the Venue, Wheelchair access to all areas. All amenities on site including refreshments.

PARKING AVAILABLE IN THE TOWN CENTRE CAR PARK for a small charge.

Coach Company's - Free parking for coaches a short walk from the Hall. Coach drivers entrance fee and £5 refreshment/meal voucher.
