A local author will retell the tragic story of Katherine More at a special event in Much Wenlock next month. Phil Revell will present his research at the Edge Arts Centre on Friday 30th September.

Festive Weekends at Blists Hill Victorian Town

Residents at Blists Hill Victorian Town, in the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, Shropshire, will be busy preparing for Christmas over the two weekends of 10-11 and 17-18 December. SVR opens its ‘inner sanctum’ for ‘Peep behind the Scenes’ weekend

THE SEVERN Valley Railway’s engine and carriage sheds, engineering workshops and signalboxes, and many other strategically important installations normally ‘out of bounds’ to the public, will be opened up to visitors this coming Saturday and Sunday (September 3rd & 4th), when the steam heritage line stages a ‘Peep behind the Scenes’ weekend, for only the second time.

‘Furnaceman’s Dream’ A Play inspired by Shakespeare and Ironbridge Heritage

A local drama group is staging an unusual play which combines Shakespeare with musical theatre and takes its inspiration from the Ironbridge Gorge’s industrial heritage. Furnaceman’s Dream is being presented by the Telford and District Light Operatic Players (Tadlop) in the Engine Shop at Enginuity, Coalbrookdale on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November, near the site of the Old Furnace used by Abraham Darby.

Museum commemorates Battle of Britain with family weekend

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford will be commemorating the Battle of Britain, considered the most important event in Royal Air Force history, with a family weekend of events and activities for the whole family to enjoy, including a flypast on Saturday from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire (weather permitting).
