Peg planes and trench talk

May half term is almost upon us and during this school break the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford has planned a week of wartime nostalgia to keep the younger members of the family entertained. Dipping pond in historic walled garden is exposed after 60 years

One of the two dipping ponds of Apley Walled Garden has been recently exposed ready for re-use, 60 years after it was last used. So called as gardeners would dip their watering cans into it, the pair of dipping ponds gradually fell out of use, as the watering relied increasingly on piped water.
