A Slice of South Africa at The Market Hall

Bringing you the very best South African food and drink, a new addition to the Market Hall in Shrewsbury is helping natives grab a slice of home.

Jubalani South African Foods has recently located to the Market Hall and is attracting quite an interest.

"I was missing goodies from South Africa that you cannot get in this country and I thought there must be others around like me," explained owner Lizette Coetzee.

"With such a large population of expatriates here in Shrewsbury, there is a demand for authentic foodstuffs so my aim is to deliver the food my customers love," added Lizette.

Jubalani foods offers the opportunity for people who have visited South Africa on holiday to re-discover some of the delights and for locals to experience something completely new.

Whether you're craving a Creme Soda or packet of Iced Zoo or want to sample some traditional BBQ Beef Sosaties then Jubalani Foods has the answer.

"There is a big number of South Africans in and around Shrewsbury and I thought the Market Hall would be the perfect place to provide my service from," explained Lizette.

"I even offer the opportunity for South Africans to trade in English or Arikaans."

Lizette has been trading since January and has an online store but her choice to locate to the Market Hall reflects the diversity of the tenants choosing to locate there.

"The Market Hall really is evolving," said market administration manager, Kate Gittins

"Over the last few months there has been a influx of continental cuisines offering a very new and fresh dimension."

In the weeks leading up to Christmas Lizette will be having ten per cent days on Saturdays and is also offering pre-packed hampers for Christmas at reduced prices.
