Understanding the Quality Assessment Scheme
All the accommodation featured on the Shropshire Tourism website and other websites within the Shropshire Tourism website network have been quality assessed by a recognised inspection body such as Direct Tourism Services, VisitBritain or the AA. Additionally establishments may have recently applied for a rating and is awaiting assessment. Please be aware that gradings may change throughout the year.

All of the assessing bodies (Direct Tourism Services, VisitBritain, Visit Wales and the AA) assess to the same national standards and award one to five stars. The star gradings reflect the overall quality of the experience.
Assessments are undertaken every year and a quality score is awarded for every aspect of the experience.

Some of the accommodation and attraction operators listed on this website are inspected under the VisitBritain National Accessibility Scheme, these have a 'VB' next to the relevant disability access symbol.Other Accommodation and Attraction providers conduct a self-assessment for the level of accessibility, this will be shown without the 'VB' next to the relevant accessibility symbol.
Mobility Level 1
Typically suitable for a person with sufficient mobility to climb a flight of steps but who would benefit from fixtures and fittings to aid balance.
Mobility Level 2
Typically suitable for a person with restricted walking ability and for those who may need to use a wheelchair some of the time and can negotiate a maximum of three steps.
Mobility Level 3
Typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair and transfers unaided to and from the wheelchair in a seated position. This person may be an independent traveller.
Mobility Level 4
Typically suitable for a person who depends on the use of a wheelchair in a seated position.This person also requires personal/mechanical assistance to aid transfer (eg carer, hoist).
Visual Level 1
Typically provides key additional services and facilities to meet the needs of visually impaired guests.
Visual Level 2
Typically provides a higher level of additional services and facilities to meet the needs of visually impaired guests.
Hearing Level 1
Typically provides key additional services and facilities to meet the needs of guests with hearing impairment.
Hearing Level 2
Typically provides a higher level of additional services and facilities to meet the needs of guests with hearing impairment.
