Nestling within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of rural Shropshire Bryncalled Barns is an ideal base for exploring Shropshire and the Marches.
Created from our dream of converting a series of old redundant farm buildings, Bryncalled Barns offers three delightful Grade II listed self catering barn accommodation full of character and tradition with all the comforts of home. Overlooking a pretty courtyard the barns have plenty of room for parking and are situated close at hand to the owner's barn giving you the opportunity to seek information about the area if and when required. Each property has been renovated to a very high standard and retain a wealth of original timbers including beams and trusses, exposed brickwork and stonework, and keep a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Bryncalled Barns is situated approximately 2 miles from the rustic village of Bucknell, with its village pubs, Post office, Convenience Store, traditional butchers and petrol station. The Heart of Wales railway line also passes through Bucknell with destinations such as Church Stretton, known as "Little Switzerland" and the medieval town of Shrewsbury. For those interested in walking, the railway also offers a one day 'rover' allowing you to get on and off the train as it rambles its way through the Welsh valleys, the "Sugar Loaf" in the Black Mountains and finally Swansea.
Nearby is the welsh market town of Knighton, which is home to the Offa's Dyke Heritage Centre, long distance path and the Space Guard Centre for space enthusiasts. Ludlow has a harmonious mix of architecture and its 11th century castle provides the perfect backdrop to its famous Michelin star restaurants, food fairs and various festivals including its annual Shakespearean inspired Ludlow Festival. The quaint village of Clun is very picturesque with its unspoilt country setting, with its hill top castle ruins and river flowing through the valley. Also of interest is a visit to Acton Scott working farm as featured in the recent BBC2 television series 'Victorian Farm'.
Bryncalled Barns is a wonderful location for walking, cycling, bird watching and touring at a leisurely pace. Swallow Cottage will comfortably sleep five, consisting of master bedroom with double bed, TV and ensuite shower facilities. A small walk out balcony over looks the court yard and valley beyond. Two further rooms, a twin bedded room and a single room provide ample accommodation with space for a cot and a family bathroom leads off a landing with its French doors and Juliet style balcony that overlooks the enclosed garden below. The ground floor is an open plan layout including a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge-freezer, electric oven and hob, washer/dryer, microwave and dishwasher, a dining area and a lounge with its two and three seat sofa's, log effect fire and TV. There is also a small enclosed garden to the rear with seating area and a barbeque and is very secure for young children.
Stable End is a retreat for two with its spacious bedroom affording olde world charm and distant views with king size bed, TV and plenty of space for a cot. A luxury bathroom with corner bath and separate large shower provides pure indulgence. The ground floor is open plan with its flagstone flooring and fully equipped kitchen with electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, washer/dryer and fridge with ice compartment. The dining area provides seating for four, whilst the lounge continues the barns character charm with a two seat sofa, two armchairs and TV. The front door opens onto a small courtyard garden with seating area and barbeque.
Groom Cottage is a semi-detached barn conversion with a wealth of original features and provides a high standard of self-catering accommodation. The ground floor includes a large open plan living and dining area with exposed beams, to include a three seat sofa, 2 arm chairs and a log effect fire. Large dining table and seating for 4. TV with Freeview and DVD, CD player, and a small library of books and games. Fully fitted Kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven and gas hobs. Upstairs has a master bedroom with double bed, television with Freeview and DVD. Ensuite facilities with shower, WC and basin. Large twin bedroom with two single beds. Television with Freeview and DVD. A family bathroom with WC, basin and bath with overhead shower. A cot can be supplied on request in the twin room to make up a maximum occupancy of 4 plus a cot. A high chair, cot bedding and baby towels are also available on request. Private patio area with seating for 4 and BBQ during the summer months.
Within the owners grounds are a play area, paddock and pond with picnic and seating areas for your enjoyment in this lovely valley of South Shropshire.
All cottages have Oil fired central heating throughout, Iron, Ironing board, and all the kitchen equipment you could want making them a 'true home from home'. Beds with bed linen and duvets, towels, tea cloths and a small amount of sundries are provided at no extra cost. A cot with bedding and high chair are available on request.
To keep up our excellent standards we are sorry no Pets and No Smoking are allowed in either property but smoking in the garden is permitted.

From Bucknell head towards Chapel Lawn. Continue on this road through the village passing the school on the left and the Baron of Beef on the right. After 1.5 miles look for orange neighborhood disc on left, turn right into lane adjacent to disc. Follow to top. Barns are situated behind house on left. Turn into courtyard.
