Self-Catering in Nr Ludlow, Shropshire
Dower Cottage is a lovely stone built, oak beamed cottage just outside the Roman village of Leintwardine, set on a peaceful country lane and about fifteen minutes drive from Ludlow.
The cottage offers magnificent views over the surrounding countryside and miles of footpaths from the doorstep.
The large kitchen/breakfast room comprises electric cooker with hob and grill, dishwasher, fridge and separate freezer, washer/dryer and microwave oven.
The comfortable, cosy sitting room has a wood burning stove set in a large stone fireplace, new Freeview HD TV and Blu-ray DVD player, radio and CD player, and a portable speaker dock for iPod and iPhone. Assorted DVDs, books, games and CDs are available in the cottage.
Upstairs comprises a large double bedroom. Twin bedded room. spacious landing, and bathroom which has a wc, washbasin and bath with electric shower over. The cottage is oil centrally heated throughout. Wifi is also available throughout the cottage.
Outside there is an attractive cottage garden with table and chairs in the seating area where guests can enjoy the lovely views and relax in the peace and quiet. There is a further large garden immediately opposite the cottage, where there is a barbecue and garden furniture for guests' use. Parking for two cars is available outside the cottage gate. The lane is very quiet and very little traffic passes by.
The village of Leintwardine which is within easy walking distance has a post office, petrol station with well equipped stores, fish and chip shop, traditional prize winning butcher, two pubs - The Sun and the Lion Hotel, and two restaurants, The Lion and The Jolly Frog. There are also lots of country pubs selling good food within about ten to fifteen minutes drive from the cottage. The thriving town of Ludlow is situated approx eight miles to the east and is famous for its summer festival of arts, literature and music, it's food festival in the autumn, it's medieval castle and its wealth of wonderful restaurants. Farmer's Markets selling locally grown produce are held in the town square where a general market is held on most days of the week.
There are also Tesco and Somerfield supermarkets. The historic cathedral city of Hereford and the fashionable market town of Shrewsbury are approximately 40 minutes drive, each in opposite directions from the cottage. Our aim is to ensure that all our guests at Dower Cottage have a most comfortable and enjoyable holiday, and indeed many of our visitors do return many times! Your holiday starts with a complimentary hamper which includes a bottle of wine, milk, tea, coffee, butter, bread, new laid eggs from our own free range hens and home made preserve. Sorry no pets and no smokers. All electricity, central heating oil, linen towels and a full basket of logs are included in the rental.
