Soulton Hall Cottages
Self-Catering in Wem, Shropshire
There are four peaceful cottages on the Soulton Estate. Each of the cottages has an open fire, its own private garden and well-equipped fitted kitchen, but guests are very welcome to take their meals at Soulton Hall.
The Cottages on Soulton Farm
The history of the farm means that over the years/centuries several cottages were built to accommodate the families of the people who were part of our Soulton community, and who supported in the work of looking after our particular corner of Shropshire.
Today, some of these houses are available as self catering holiday cottage retreats or 'vacation rentals'.
Keeper's Cottage -- a substantial cottage in unique woodland setting, sleeping 6;
Shooter's Lodge -- a spacious, well-appointed modern bungalow, sleeping 6;
Herdsman's Cottage -- one of a pair of Victorian cottages, sleeping 5;
Ploughman's Cottage -- the other of a pair of Victorian cottages, sleeping 5.
The holiday cottages are independent houses, each with its own garden, kitchen, living/dining space, in addition to bedrooms and bathrooms. They all have ample space to park cars.
Some cottage guests will make frequent visits to Soulton Hall for meals (breakfast and dinner by separate arrangement), others will be busy going out: walking, touring, cycling, relaxing, or having quiet time together.
The cottages are an economic way of taking a bigger number of people away to Shropshire for more extended periods (in particular because you don't have to keep eating out), and for this reason suit families and/or friendship groups. Indeed they are a useful as extra options for guests attending celebrations or weddings around the Soulton and Wem area.
