Shropshire culture and arts: let Shropshire open your eyes

Shropshire doesn’t just give you tranquil surroundings, rich history and amazing food. All year round, Shropshire has a vibrant arts and culture scene to inspire and entertain. At Shropshire theatres you can catch nationally touring drama, comedy, live music, musicals, pantomime, and plays for children. As well as big-name cinemas you’ll find two independent cinemas in Shropshire, plus screenings in other performance spaces around the county. Shropshire museums and their knowledgeable staff are amazing. You can get up close to Roman treasure, travel through decades of British pop culture, see a full-size reconstruction of the woolly mammoths that wandered Shropshire thousands of years ago. In small galleries around the county you can buy original artwork from local artists. Shropshire’s beautiful scenery and quietude mean many creative people have made our county their home, including writers, artists, photographers and musicians. We love festivals in Shropshire, and many of our annual festivals embrace the arts. You could attend a classical music recital in a beautiful church or visit the open studios of artists. Are you ready to soak up Shropshire’s arts and culture?
